Internationally renowned African American artist
to make presentation

Grand Rapids,MI -- Faith Ringgold internationally renowned painter, award-winning writer, mixed media sculptor, performance artist and activist will present two slide lectures titled "Quilts as Art and Story: The Works of Faith Ringgold" in the Aquinas College Performing Arts Center, 1703 Robinson Road, S.E.

The lectures are on Wednesday, October 12, from noon to 1:30 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Following the presentations, there will be time for questions and answers. Tickets for Ringgold's slide presentations are $10 per person and may be purchased by calling (616) 632-2449 or at the Performing Arts Center box office. Seating is limited. Both lectures will be followed by a book signing. Portrait of Faith Ringgold in her UCSD studio painting Wanted from the American Collection. Student tickets are available for the noon-time lecture, and limited seating at the evening lecture, for $5 at the PAC box office with a student ID.

Ringgold Art Pieces on Display in the Art and Music Center Gallery. Three Ringgold award-winning painted story quilts and numerous art pieces including silk screens of some her most famous works will be on display in the Aquinas College Art and Music Center, Kretchmer Gallery from Monday, October 3 through Friday, October 14. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
