Destiny's Child Divas from birth. The Destiny's Child, “Destiny Fulfilled Tour” turned into a global farewell party. On Sunday August 14th hundreds of heart broken fans made their way to the Palace of Auburn Hills for what would turn out to be an unforgettable night. It was said when the tour started that Amerie, another young very successful artist, was supposed to be one of the performers. But, she was not there and nothing was said about it. The concert opened up with a young lady named Tyra singing a couple songs, but she was not very experienced and her lyrics were not very clear or recognizable. Next up was Detroit’s own Tearra Mari. She has just signed with Roc-A-Fella records and has already landed a number one hit on the R&B charts. She sang and danced around to her hit song ‘Make her feel good’. For being such a new artist she was surprisingly good. She had most people standing up and clapping and cheering their heads off. Then, singing sensation Mario, took command of the stage. This man had all the girls in the crowd yelling themselves hoarse. Mario danced and sang five of his hit songs including ‘Let me love you’ and ‘Just a friend’. He truly gave an amazing performance. Whether he was dancing around or standing at the microphone, he had the crowds’ attention. This was all heightened when he proceeded to tear his shirt off. Many of the girls were hysterical after that. All in all, he gave a great performance. Finally, the main performance commenced. Destiny’s Child started with ‘Say my name’. The three women, Kelly, Michelle, and Beyoncé, all wore different colors and each sang a piece of the song. Throughout the concert each of the girls took time to sing a song that was a hit for them, so that they could each show off their individual achievements. Beyoncé sang four songs including ‘Dangerously in love’ and ‘Crazy in love’. The song ‘Survivor’ was easily the best performance of the night. At the conclusion of ‘Survivor’ the crowd started leaving and part of the stadium had emptied out, but it was a trick. The show was not over and many a people had lost their seats because of their eagerness to get to their car. Not only did they lose their seats they also missed the show’s finale. The final song ‘Lose my breath” had the trio - Kelly, Michelle, and Beyoncé - dancing in jeans and T-shirts. It was amazing. Tracy Craft of Lansing states, “It was the best concert I’ve ever been to”. The show went on for at least a couple of hours. The concert was a final tribute to Destiny’s Child’s wonderful career and it was an achievement in itself. The 2005 tour is slated to visit over 16 countries and 75 cities worldwide, started in Japan's Hiroshima and will end in Vancouver, Canada. Destiny's Child consists of three members, Beyoncé Knowles, 23, Kelendria 'Kelly' Rowland, 24, and Tenetria 'Michelle' Williams, 24. Rowland and Knowles, who are cousins, formed the group in Houston, TX in 1990, originally with four members. The original members were: Beyoncé Knowles, Kelendria 'Kelley' Rowland, Latoya Luckett, and Latavia Roberson. Beyoncé's father manages the group while her mother designs the outfits and costumes for them. Destiny's first album, 'Destiny's Child' went platinum and was known for the #1 single 'No No No'. Their next hit album was 'The Writings on the Wall' which gave them their first two #1 hits and two Grammy’s for the #1 hit 'Say My Name’ and topping out at #3 on the charts was 'Jumpin Jumpin'. There was also 'Bugaboo' which made it into the top forty and #33. After 'The Writings on the Wall' was out for a while, trouble started to stir within the group, ending with Latoya Luckett and Latavia Roberson leaving. When Luckett and Roberson left, they were replaced by Tenetria 'Michelle' Williams and Farrah Franklin. Farrah also left the group. When the hit album 'Survivor' came out in 2002, toping the charts at #1 with it's title song, Luckett and Roberson sued the group claiming that the hit song 'Survivor' made derisive comments directed at them. They also stated that the song was in violation of a previous contract, which prohibits either party from making "any public comment of a disparaging nature concerning one another." Luckett and Roberson also sued declaring that Matthew Knowles, manager of the group, father of Beyoncé, and legal guardian of Kelendria, kept extra money and played favorites on his family. According to the lawsuit, Knowles promoted his daughter's interests above those of her band mates. These issues were settled and the charges were dropped when Luckett and Roberson agreed on settlement fee. Destiny’s Child has since gone on to become one of the best female groups in msuic recording history.
