VOTE Tuesday November 2nd! Largest Voter Turnout in History!
Almost 60% of registered voters came out thou only 1 in 10 were youth.

Nov. 3 - FREE Quit Tobacco Workshop at Ingham Medical Center's Meerman Educational Center in Room 6. Located at 407 Greenlawn, Lansing.

Nov. 6 - Imani's presents Ladies of Soul book signing for four, yes four of Lansing's own authors from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at 306 East Grand River Ave in Old Town - Lansing. Featured Authors are:

Dee Freeman - "Oceans of Love" and "Poetry She Wrote"
Dianne Hicks - "Lady Di" and "Soulful Expressions of Love and Women"
Diane Gardin - "Echoes of my Soul"
Londis Lain - "Rusty Heels" and recently released "Chicken Soup for the African American Soul"

Nov. 7 - The Annual Harvest Tea will be held at Mask Memorial CME Church form 4:30 to 6:30 pm Guest Speaker is Reverend Dr. Michael Murphy, pastor of St. Stephens Community Church. This years theme is: "Gather the Harvest with Joy," (Psalm 126:5). Join us for this harvest of thanksgiving with food and fellowship. Co-chairpersons: Dr. Charles Green & Mrs. Juanita Green. Nov 8 - (Monday) from 12:00 - 2:00 pm Grand Opening Celebration of the Lansing Community College - West Campus. Located between Creyts and Snow road off of West Mount Hope Hwy (South of Waverly High School). Public Welcome. Directions From I-496:Exit at and Turn South on Creyts Road to Mt. Hope - Turn Left on W. Mt. Hope and go for about 1/2 mile - Turn Left onto Construction Entrance, next to Chapman Insurance Agency. Signage and volunteers will offer directions from here to the main event. For more information, please call 483-9889.

Nov 13 - The African American Genealogy Society meets every second Saturday of the month at the State of Michigan Library, 717 W. Allegan St., Lansing, MI

Nov 15 - 6:30 pm LCC Visiting Writer Series hosts Detroit Novelist Hilda Gurley Room 127 TLC (The Learning Center corner of N. Capitol and Shiawassee across from Gibson’s Book Store.) Novelist Gurley-Highgate will visit Lansing Community College to read, and sign books, and answer questions about the creative writing life. Her book, Sapphire’s Grave, is a multi-generational family saga spanning over 200 years. It traces the lives of African-American women who battled unspeakable injustices to create a legacy of hope and achievement. http://www.gurleyhighgate.com/
