BASE employment workshop set LANSING, MI - Black Associates in State
Employment (BASE) presents a career boosting personnel workshop at the
State of Michigan Library, 717 W. Allegan St., Lansing, MI. on Saturday,
Nov, 20, 2004 beginning at 10 a.m. The work shop is geared for both the
veteran state employee and the person seeking employment with state government.
The weekend informational session is a response to the tremendous changes
in the hiring and promotional practices of state government according
to BASE President, Ron Jones. “The resume has gone from one page to several pages of work experience,” he said. “And the interview process is much more involved. “One of the keys to success is preparation, preparation, preparation. But you have to knowprepare for and that’s where the BASE workshop comes in.” The workshop is slated to begin promptly at 10 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m. According to the BASE leader minority job seekers will receive solid information. “By attending our workshop new
job seekers and longtime state employees will receive the latest information
and skills to move their career forward," Jones said. “Our
workshops are dedicated to personal advancement. We offer hands on, time
tested techniques, skills and information. The State of Michigan is in
the BASE Workshop process of creating a competency based human resource
management system, but if you don’t know what this means, then you
need to attend the workshop.” The workshop is free, but participants
