Wright Museum of African American History (CHWMAAH) presents a dark period of terrorism in American history with the internationally acclaimed exhibition Without Sanctuary: Lynching Photography in America. The Museum is located at 315 East Warren Avenue in Detroit's Cultural Center and is open to the public Wednesdays through Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. through 5:00 p.m., and Sundays 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Oct. 17 – 2nd Annual Gourmet Gents, featuring gentlemen chefs in the Greater Lansing Community, at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center Banquet Hall, 819 Abbott Rd., from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.Tickets: $15.00 teens and adults. Oct. 22 & 23 – Haunted Forest – Trails of Terror at Fenner Nature Center, 2020 E. Mt. Hope, Lansing, MI From 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The trails will be crawling with horrifying creatures that lurk deep in the dark woods. (Not suitable for children under age 8). Recommended for ages 8 and under. Oct. 23 – 2nd Annual Jazz Brunch featuring the MSU Professors of Jazz in the MSU Kellogg Center, Big Ten Room, East Lansing, MI at 10 a.m. Sponsored by the East Lansing Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Oct. 23 – The men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and the directors of the Phi Beta Sigma, Epsilon Tau Sigma Chapter Education Fund, Inc. of Lansing is hosting its Blue & White Orchid Ball at the University Club, East Lansing, MI Oct. 26 – Real People Zone at the Creole Gallery, 1218 Turner St. in Old Town Lansing. Think ghosts and goblins are scary? What about the elections? Presented by the Real People Players. Five dollars donation. Show begins at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29 – 39th Annual NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet to be held at the Holiday Inn South Conference Center, 6820 S. Cedar St. The theme is: Brown V. Board of Education: Keeping Our Eyes on the Prize. The Key note speaker is Wade Henderson, Executive Director of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights.
