East Lansing High School student
picked to compete East Lansing, MI --Cassandra Allen of East Lansing has been selected as a member of the United States of America World Championships of Performing Arts Prestigious Team. The 14-year-old was awarded scholarship honors to compete at the eighth annual World Championships of Performing Arts, often cited as the official “Olympics” for aspiring performing artist around the world. As a member of Team USA, Cassandra is eligible to represent the U.S. Aug. 7 – 14 in Hollywood, CA. Competitors from 40 countries and the U.S. will compete for gold medals in dance, modeling, vocals, acting, comedy, instrumental, bands and variety (females, males, individuals and groups). The Trojan freshman has been singing classical music for four years. She is a past member of the freshman cheerleading squad, a current member of the Black Student Union, the MSU High School Treble Ensemble, the University of Michigan Women’s High School Chorale and an honor student at ELHS. “Cassy” as she is called, is a member of the Youth Department of Life Changers Church, a student voluntgeer at the Interfaith Shelter in Jackson, and a student volunteer a Cassy’s Playhouse (a preschool and day-care center in Jackson. Cassy is the daughter of Anna Allen of East Lansing and Joseph Allen of London, England. |
