Available NOW on the Internet MiBulletin.org In October 2003 we began the process of developing a web based version of the Michigan Bulletin with the help of a grant from SBC and Michigan State University. As a non-profit, freely distributed publication it has been a long and difficult process. Our initial objective was to use this as a training activity for young people and underserved individuals but without the incentive of future income, we could not maintain consistent staffing to get the news out. In May, 2004 the Web Director for the Black Child and Family Institute and Closing The Digital Gap web sites stepped up to get it done. Vene Yates has worked one-on-one with two young interns provided through a Lansing School District / Michigan Works initiative to redesign and establish a web site complete with an archive of past issues. Due to time constraints, the online version will provide fewer articles than the printed version. However, we will seek to provide at least the following from this issue and forward: A Headline article, the 4-1-1, a young publisher article, and a local event article. We are also seeking advertisement submissions for the online version to provide funding for the continuation of mibulletin.org and payment for staff. You can help us out by making our web site one of the places you visit on a regular basis and letting those you do business with know that you saw their ad on our web site at http://mibulletin.org Thank you for your support! |
